SURI ALPACA/SILK
Our super soft and fluffy “Suri Alpaca/Silk” consists of 90% baby suri alpaca and 10% silk and has a yardage of 225 metres/100g.
There are two types of alpaca; suri and huacaya. The Suri alpaca is more rare and makes up approx. 5% of the alpaca population. The hair from the suri alpaca is longer and shinier. Baby suri alpaca refers to wool from the very first shearing of the alpaca, which is the absolute finest and softest.
Alpaca wool is soft as cashmere and warmer than sheep’s wool, the combination with the softness and shine from the silk, you get this luxurious yarn. Which is incomparably soft and shiny and a true pleasure to knit with.
“Suri Alpaca/Silk” is excellent for most garments and accessories, and can be used as an alternative to our “Fat Mohair”.
We recommend knitting needles 5 – 7 mm.
