Dorris is a light and fluffy cardigan with beautiful details, knitted from the top down with saddle shoulders extending onto the sleeves.
To start, 2 shoulder pieces are made. Then stitches are picked up along these shoulder pieces to first knit the back, and subsequently the front pieces. The armholes are shaped by making increases on the back and front pieces. After the increases, the back and front pieces are joined, and the body is knitted in one piece, finishing with a ribbed edge. Then stitches are picked up along the armhole, and short rows are worked to shape the sleeve cap. The contrast of the shoulder piece is knitted out onto the sleeve using the intarsia/gobelin technique. The sleeve is knitted in the round down to the cuff with decreases along the way. Finally, stitches are picked up along the front pieces and neckline, and the front edges are knitted with a narrow strip in bouclé yarn, followed by ribbing.
