Alpaca Cloud is one of our softest yarn qualities. It’s made from 100% super baby alpaca – the softest and finest alpaca you can imagine. This yarn is spun as a “cloud” around a thinner core, creating an ultra-soft and airy texture that even the most wool-sensitive people can wear.
The quality is a “fluffy” yarn quality but does not tend to shed, as fluffy yarns often do. It is suitable for all kinds of clothing and accessories (except socks).
It is sold in 50g skeins and has a yardage of 150m/50g (= 300m/100g). Due to the way this yarn is spun, it can be knitted on larger needles than what is typically used for a yarn with similar yardage. This also makes the yarn go a very long way. For example, our Gerda Sweater is knitted on 5.5 mm needles with a gauge of 14 stitches per 10 cm – and we used only 200g of yarn for a size medium.
